Don’t Go Broke Trying to Build an Online Business
Forty Thousand Dollars Later
How much are you spending to learn the tricks of the Internet marketing trade? Are you spending cash hand over fist in pursuit of an ideal approach to implement your business idea? Do you have a habit of buying everything you can, hoping to find the one last piece of your profit puzzle?
You’re not the only one convinced that the only way to make money involves spending it in copious quantities. Far too many Internet marketers are doing the exact same thing.
Those spending habits have a logical appeal. It’s entirely reasonable to invest in new strategies and tools to fine-tune your profitable IM enterprises. Investing in new materials to stay on top of a quickly developing industry is reasonable. Spending that money when you’re struggling is a different story.
There’s a significant difference between trying to stay on the cutting edge and gambling on every possible tool in hopes of making a business work.
You want to handle this the right way. You don’t want to spend yourself into bankruptcy before you build a real business.
The Right Kind of Purchase
So, how do you avoid becoming the wrong kind of serial buyer? The first step is creating a bedrock foundation for your IM business. If you look at the core of Internet marketing, it’s really rather simple.
You need to have something to sell. You need to have a strategy to sell that product. You need a way to generate traffic to the site from which you’re making that sales pitch.
That’s really all there is to it. All of what you do needs to relate directly to one or more of those core basics.
As such, you need to focus on building strength in all three areas. When you buy something, it must directly address one of those three foundational needs.
You need to build a solid foundation that will allow you to start making money online free before you begin worrying about the details. Once you have the basics in place, you’re going to start making money. Then you can start experimenting with new ideas and products.
Building a Smart Foundation
Getting the core of your business in place doesn’t require a massive investment. Here’s what you need to do.
- Learn how Internet marketing works on a holistic, big picture level. You need to learn how things work from someone who’s spent time in the trenches.
- Focus on ways to boost traffic. Traffic is, as noted, one of the core elements to a successful online business. It’s probably the most important of those three elements. Until you have adequate traffic, you won’t be able to find out if your products are attractive or if your copy is converting. You need as much traffic as you can get–and you need it quickly.
- Find a source of ongoing assistance. A smart ebook can be worth its weight in gold. A video can be invaluable. However, you’ll find more value in cultivating a good relationship with an experienced, successful IMer. You can become more efficient and successful when you’re on the receiving end of expert advice.
- Manage your risk. You need to build your foundation without putting too much of your limited resources at risk. Find opportunities to get the essentials at bargain prices. Look for a business coaching program or mentoring arrangement that doesn’t cost more than you can afford.
